Miami, FL (May 9, 2024) – The Nepalese Men’s National Cricket Team arrived in Miami brimming with excitement for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, and the local Nepali community was there to share their enthusiasm. The Nepalese Association of Florida (NAF) along with Zeera Indian Cuisine hosted a special meet-and-greet program to welcome the team and generate buzz for the prestigious tournament.
The team, which arrived in two groups on May 5th and 6th, was greeted by NAF Vice President Binod Basnet and a dedicated team of volunteers. Anil Sah, another team member, arrived on May 7th.
To celebrate their arrival and fuel anticipation for the World Cup, NAF hosted a special meet-and-greet program at Zeera Indian Cuisine, a Nepalese-owned local restaurant. Zeera generously catering food for the team throughout their stay in South Florida.
The program, emceed by Binod Basnet, provided an informal setting for players, staff, and members of the Nepalese community to mingle. Treasurer Priti Bhandary, Suman Subedi, Sudan Suwal, and Paras Pant presented the players and staff with traditional ceremonial scarves (Khada) as a token of welcome.
NAF President Niraj Shrestha expressed his gratitude to the team for visiting and extended his thanks to the volunteers who made the event possible. Team Manager / Board member Pradeep Majgaiyan, in turn, presented a token of love to NAF and the volunteers in appreciation of their hospitality.
The program also featured individual player introductions. Captain Rohit Poudel expressed his appreciation to NAF and volunteers for the warm welcome. An engaging Q&A session with the attendees followed, allowing fans to connect with their cricketing heroes. It was an opportunity to take autographed cricket balls and jerseys.
The program concluded with a delicious Nepalese dinner served by Zeera Indian Cuisine. The local community members enjoyed a unique opportunity to interact with the players, take photos, and create lasting memories. This warm welcome undoubtedly served as a positive boost for the Nepali team as they gear up for the T20 World Cup.
